End of an era — this Cecile Brunner rose was a standout when we put in the cottage garden. However, it only blooms once, has outgrown the space, and it was shading out my dahlias and roses, so today it came out. I’m replacing it with Colette, a heavily scented rebloomer that has a tidier habit. 🌱

End of an era — this Cecile Brunner rose was a standout when we put in the cottage garden. However, it only blooms once, has outgrown the space, and it was shading out my dahlias and roses, so today it came out. I’m replacing it with Colette, a heavily scented rebloomer that has a tidier habit. 🌱
The dahlias are just barely hanging on. We haven’t had a freeze yet but it’s too cold for any more to open up, I think. Grateful for another season of beauty in the garden. 🌱 #dailydahlia #bloomscrolling #flowerreport

On this first day of standard time in the Northern Hemisphere, this is a PSA that your spaces need COZY LIGHTS this time of year. Fairy lights, hurricane lamps, LED candles, hurricane lamps filled with LEDs etc. Get them on timers to come on at 4pm so the nights aren’t so dark and full of terrors.

My sweet mutt Millie has no time or use for other dogs or (largely) people. All she cares about is ball. If possible, she likes to hold one in her mouth and one with her feet, or if necessary, two in her mouth. Look how happy she is with ball!

A little fall themed shopping today: pub cap from a local resale shop, handmade scarf from the local secondhand bookstore, and a pair of Torrid pants for $7 from Goodwill.

There was a quick sunny break in the rain so I snapped a few photos of my native hedgerow and shade plantings. Everything is starting to hunker down for winter but it still looks pretty and peaceful. 🌱
