I've just been re-appointed to SAG-AFTRA's LA GAPP (government/public policy) and LA GRC (internal rules) Committees. I'm honored to serve another term on these committees.

Here's how the GOP gets a truce on redistricting:

1. Congress (including GOP members) passes a reasonable and fair Federal Constitutional Amendment and sends it to the states for ratification.

2. The states (including GOP states) ratify it.

Remember that Bush II weaponized the DOJ, and here we are, right back here again, but much, much worse. Dems have got to state a concrete plan to prevent this from happening again. I just don't understand why they aren't proposing plans to fix all of this.

So, we all know that this was orchestrated to have 8 Sens take the fall. But, let's assume that's not true for a sec. That means that the public story is that these 8 think they know better than the rest of the Dem Senators (incl. the minority leader).

Some of the 8 are in their first term... 1/

We need to have "No Cavers" rallies to match the "No Kings" rallies. Protest outside every Dem Senator's office until Schumer is ousted.

The ACA fight shows how dumb not having universal health insurance is. Just expand Medicaid to cover everyone automatically. Feds pay 100% for covered services. People/employers can go get extra in private market if they want. Feds will run its own Medicaid plan for states that don't want to. 1/

Dems will field a challenge to King, but Maine's Senate election isn't until 2030. Shaheen is retiring, so that seat is up for grabs.

Hassan is up for re-election in 2028. Any credible primary challenger to her probably stands a decent chance of winning.

Any Dem who votes for anything in exchange for a "promise" needs to be primaried.

Dems have got to commit to court reform. That means: (a) ethics rules, (b) expanding the SC to 13 members, (c) setting up a separate elections court system and taking away jurisdiction from the SC and (d) banning use of the shadow docket except in extremely limited emergency circumstances.

There's plenty of red districts where Dems don't field candidates and 3rd Way can test out their theories. Maybe they should put their money where their mouths are.

Looks like the SC might actually take down Trump's tariffs. It's gonna be hilarious when Trump starts attacking the conserva- judges personally.

Admin says they have a backup plan, but you know Trump will throw that out (too complicated) and just blatantly ignore the ruling.

Holy moly, that's a blowout on Prop 50. Let's hope other Dem states take the hint.

Welp. Looks like we're gonna get another 2008-style financial crisis. I guess the question is whether it happens before or after the midterms.

I'm reading this insipid "Deciding to Win" centrist consultant blather, and it seems to me that the centrists are gearing up to fight admission of DC if we take the trifecta in 2028. We're going to have to organize against the centrists in 2029 if we want to make sure we don't end up here again.

Yeesh. It's common in a lot of countries to refer to older relatives or friends of the family as "Aunt" or "Uncle." It's also something that happens in the Southern US. Or it least it did when I was a kid.

From what I can tell, Congresspeople get paid during the shutdown. So, what exactly our Dem pols doing during the shutdown for their paycheck? This is as good a time as any to put together a Dem version of P2025 and draft implementing legislation.

Mills defense of the filibuster shows that if Dems do take the trifecta in 2028, we're going to have to organize protests against recalcitrant Dems in 2029, or we're just going to keep ending up back here.

What's bonkers about Unitary Executive theory is that we declared independence less than a century after the Glorious Revolution, in which parliament, y'know, deposed the king. We're supposed to believe that our framers intended to give our President more power than the King? Come on.

Any Dem who calls ICE stuff a "distraction" is being patently offensive. It's not a distraction, it's an existential threat. The term "distraction" is a slap in the face to POC. I don't see how anyone can look at that Chicago raid and think this term is acceptable to use.

Shaheen sends out signal for surrender from Schumer Dems. She will vote 4 blank checks to fund the Trump regime as long as she gets a “promise” that there will be vote on healthcare.

This is probably how Schumer’s caucus will surrender bc he doesn’t hold his member accountable 4 surrendering.

Maybe this Comey stuff will help @schumer.senate.gov and @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social wake up and stop their feckless behavior. There is no in-between with Trump. You're either an ally or an enemy. They can either make a stand or end up right where Comey is in a few years.
