Delft, Netherlands,these machines are widely used to efficiently cut, chop and suck away the vegetation on road verges. Removing nutrients included in the vegetation is a goal but no insect survives this!
The words on the side miss any connection to reality: flourishing verges, bees, biodiversity.

This bumblebee disappeared decades ago from England and Wales and is now Scotland’s most threatened bumblebee ⚠️

Once found across the UK, the Great Yellow bumblebee is now found in the far north and west of Scotland – and only in very small numbers.

Second generation Bufftailed bumblebee queen foraging on Anemones in my backyard.

Three years ago at Canvey Wick, brown site next to the Thames estuary. After a wildfire new vegetation was flourishing with beautiful Shrill carder males foraging.

In 2023 we found Bombus Brodmannicus in the French Alps. This bumblebee is dependend on pollen of Cerinthe Minor.
Amazingly fast bees, difficult to shoot beautifull coulours.
Three days later all was eaten by sheep sadly.

Vandaag zag ik voor #ElkeDagEenInsect een bijenwolf. Da's een fascinerend wespje! Hier graaft ze een gang om de verlamde bij (die ligt buiten beeld te wachten) in te leggen. Daar gaat een eitje bij en de larf eet vervolgens de bij op. Yum!
