It is morally repugnant that the world's richest man is working to de-fund programs that give aid to some of the neediest people on Earth.
Elon Musk's legacy will be that of a weak narcissist who, even with untold riches and power, was unhappy, unloved, unfulfilled, and unredeemable.

Is there a “good” stress 😣 in surgery?!

🇫🇷 800 procedures / 40 surgeons @jama.com surgery

🧠 Sympathovagal balance of the surgeon in the first 5 minutes measured

🪡 Increased stress associated to less major complications 🤷

Feeling stressed 😰 already?!

PRICE-2 trial out @LancetGastroHep :
Hypovolemic phlebotomy (7-10 mL/kg) versus usual care for liver resection w high risk of blood loss.

Primary outcome: blood transfusion
—> Phlebotomy 8%
—> Usual care 16%

Severe complication rate similar (17% vs 16%)

Hypovolaemic phlebotomy in patients undergoing hepatic resection at higher risk of blood loss (PRICE-2): a randomised controlled trial
In patients undergoing liver resection, hypovolaemic phlebotomy reduced perioperative red blood cell transfusion and improved operative conditions, with no statistically significant increase in the incidence of complications compared with usual care. Hypovolaemic phlebotomy should be considered for routine use in patients undergoing liver resection at higher risk of bleeding.
