They didnt tally this up by hand to spite you. They say in the piece they used Billboards charts of the top 100 tours. I think its very childish to pretend the author just doesnt know whats 'real rock music' just because you dont like the analysis.

Not for nothing Dunt is very much of a type: a gen x manboy faintly embarassed to be into comic books and cartoons but thinks he can off set that with a bowler hat or cigars and whiskey. A real synecdoche for his general problem of juvenilism he tries to offset by 'keeping it real (standard lib).

I think people remember the character of twitter, reddit, 4chan etc as it was 5 to 10 years ago because they were more distinctive then and theyve blended together as people cross post more and more.

Covid. It massively increased the audience and revenue, investment flooded into a peaking mature market - now that market is atrophying (ppl going outside or watching tiktok) and the only way to post profit is to slash staff.
