Cop shows are essentially copaganda but confoundingly choose to portray police as incompetent, negligent, malicious or a combination thereof. Is this because we are ok with the idea of someone who breaks the law to “protect us” from the bad guys?

The headline of this Warner Bros. merger drama is that the entertainment industry is further backsliding into a monopoly that will cost jobs, quality, and creative output. These companies are big enough as is.

One of my core cinema memories is renting "Aliens" with a friend when we were both way too young. He spent the first 30 min complaining it was "boring," asking "when are the aliens gonna show up?" and then howled to turn it off when they tore through the marines.

I get the appeal of Harry Potter. It’s about a kid with no real personality who is the centre of gravity for his entire universe. He doesn’t have to do anything or become a better person. He can just exist and the world tilts to accommodate him.
