As someone who's introduction to the work of @scalzi.com came via the offshoot novels, going back and starting the OMW series is a bit of a culture shock. They're good, and I am enjoying getting back into sci-fi, but feel good books they are not. Ghost Brigades is beating me up.

We had a lazy, layabout sort of day today. Except for Miss- she was on bird feeder watching duty. Must keep an eye on those finches.

Had a chance to go to a signing with Bluesky's own @scalzi.com. He was a delight. Not only that, but so was the group of fans there to see him. It was such a nice way to spend the evening.

Koko knows he is a spoilt beastie. So far his favorite thing is for the kittens to get in the tunnel while he sits on top so he can swat at them as they come and go.

My baby is 3 years old now. He celebrated by being slightly unwell and needing a round of steroids, but he's feeling more perky now. He decided the best way to demonstrate was to look cute and cuddle to distract me before turning into a bitey gremlin and using my leg as a kicky toy.

These two babies love an electric blanket. Cola is happy to curl up on the chair, but Koko insists on taking up my space and sleeping on my legs. The girls are content to sleep separately in their cat huts or their warming beds. (At least until morning, when Miss will take her turn squishing me.)

Spent some time getting caught up on @scalzi.com audiobooks this week. Constituent Service was a breath of fresh air in the midst of all the government craziness. Very talented narrator, too. Highly recommend.

I am normally a text person, but I genuinely enjoyed tiktok in a way I hadn't enjoyed other video platforms. I got such interesting stuff and most of it was very kind.
I sympathize with all the folks missing it today because when Google killed G+, that was really hard for me.
