Another major change, is his repentence. He changes. He tells his creation that he is sorry. He calls the creature his son. And also? He tells the explorers to turn back, discovery is not worth the cost of life. These are all huge changes to his character from the book. They tell a different story.

Elizabeth is changed from his fiancée to a woman he cannot have, for this reason - to highlight control as central to his character. He becomes his father, who he resents, because he has no room in his heart for love, only possession, control, and fame. This lack of love is his undoing at every turn

Frankenstein's monstrosity is that it is banal - he was an abused child he lost his mother. We see his love for his mother framed as control - "mother was mine". He blames his father for her death because he feels if he had control, she wouldn't have died. He then kills 2 people and lies about both.

In this movie, the creature kills no-one except out of self defence. He is an abused child, the product of violence and abuse in every single sense. He was assembled from the parts of men who died in violence, by a man who desired power, control, and fame, who blames him for death to avoid justice.

It experimented a ton! Elizabeth in the book was Victor's fiancée, and he hid the monster from her until the monster killed her on their wedding night! That's a huge departure from the book and one of it's main characters flaws, what the hell is this guy talking about?! Great movie
