Anna Sten in THE GIRL WITH THE HAT BOX. Sten is most remembered today as "Goldwyn's Folly." The mogul imported her to Hollywood and held back putting her in a movie, all while promising she was the greatest thing since sliced bread. Nobody, not even wonderful Anna, could live up to that hype.

As a top session musician in LA during the 1960s & 1970s, Carol Kaye’s bass was the foundation for dozens of popular songs. Kaye (born today in 1935) has a famously intuitive relationship with composer Brian Wilson. Kaye’s distinctive bass playing is featured on many of the Beach Boys’ hits.

Jean Rollin's more clinical dystopian exploration of the fantastique THE NIGHT OF THE HUNTED (1980) is an entirely different kind of zombie film, a seductively gloomy unraveling that dwells on the dread of identity loss through disease that obliterates the mind & renders the body a sorrowful prison.

Fact: They didn’t fear what breaking the Dept of Education would do to their kids. Their kids are in fancy private schools.
