It was really fun! I went to three prerelease events and chose different kits each time, though I always ended up on some combination of white, blue, or red simply due to my sealed pools. Even my friends who dislike Universes Beyond enjoyed going to the events, so that's saying something.

And now with access to so many cards from all of the events my friends and I attended, I should have made pretty good progress on my ATLA cube. I'm planning on organizing all of the cards I got sometime this week to see what else I need to look for.

and they pulled the Badgermole Cub from one of their other 3 packs, so that was cool. They don't usually do these sorts of events, but pulling the most expensive card in the the main set at least effectively refunded them their entry, haha.

For such a big event, there was way too much friendly fire for our group, haha. But the prizing was pretty good regardless; anyone who went 3-0 got 5 packs, 2-1 got 3 packs, and 1-2 got 1 pack. I gave my other friend one of my packs since we really just got a draw in our second round,

too much advantage from it, so I was able to win 2-0 pretty easily.
This card shop only does 3 rounds, I'm guessing for logistics reasons, so I ended up going 3-0. Hatsu and our other friend went 2-1, and our Wing Zero friend went 1-2 after unfortunately losing to Hatsu and our other friend.

They were apparently pretty new to MTG, but they handled themselves well, so I'm guessing they've played other TCGs competitively before. Either way, I had removal for all of their creatures and made sure to hold Bumi Bash to deal with Azula, Cunning Usurper so that they didn't gain

Because our games were so long and we were 1-1 at the end of the time limit, my friend decided to give me the win since my deck seemed better overall and there's no merit to taking a draw in limited events. Third round was against UB "Draw Two" with a W splash for Katara, Water Tribe's Hope.
November 17, 2025 at 9:25 AM
Second round was against my other mahjong/MTG friend unfortunately. They were also on UR, so we had a couple of really grindy games. They cast The Legend of Roku both games, and I was able to destroy it after it flipped the first game, but didn't have enough answers the second game.
November 17, 2025 at 9:25 AM
because he pulled the mythic rare Bumi. I won 2-0 of course, and then I gave him some advice about the basic mechanics of MTG and also fixed his deck for him. He did come up to me later in the event and mentioned that he was able to win his other games thanks to my help, so that was nice.

I could've honestly used any color as my second color, but I ended up choosing blue for the additional interaction and creatures that synergized well with non-creature spells.
First round was against a new player who got the Aang prerelease kit but ended up building RG Earthbending

I went with the Zuko prerelease kit this time around, and my sealed pool ended up being quite strong. I had two (!) copies of Fire Lord Zuko, but not enough color fixing or airbending to make them worth using, so I just decided that a two-color deck with a red focus would be best.
November 17, 2025 at 9:25 AM
Anyways, I went 4-0 and got four extra packs as prizing, so that was cool. I haven't had time to sit down and organize everything I've pulled so far, but I'll probably do that on Monday to figure out what else I need for my ATLA cube. In any case, I have one more prerelease event to attend tomorrow!

I just totally outplayed him and took the match 2-0. As a side note, Fancy Footwork put in a ton of work in every match I played today. It's a huge blowout with the +2/+2 and untap for surprise blockers or to dodge toughness-based removal. I also got to copy it once with Jeong Jeong, which was neat.

Fourth round was against WU Fliers; thankfully I had a good amount of fliers of my own, as well as reach from Yuyan Archers. He hit me with an Avatar's Wrath both games, but he didn't capitalize on it at all in the first game, and I fizzled it with Airbending Lesson in the second game.
November 16, 2025 at 7:08 AM
I also got to use Redirect Lightning on one of his removal spells to kill his big Toph, and that was the third lesson I needed for Ran and Shaw so that I could make a copy of it and close out the game shortly thereafter. I then took the second game with a strong curve out to win the round 2-0.
November 16, 2025 at 7:08 AM
Third round was against another of my friends on RG Earthbending; he actually had a lot of earthbending cards, and at one point his uncommon Toph was up to 9 power from having three earthbended lands. Unfortunately, none of his creatures could make it past my Master Piandao, so he couldn't do much.

player, so I won pretty easily 2-0. Second round was against one of my friends on mono-black; despite being only one color, his deck was pretty good with a low curve and some decent top-end in the 4-mana slot. I was able to stave off his aggro well enough though and managed to win 2-1.
November 16, 2025 at 7:08 AM
I pulled a good amount of decent red cards, so I went with WR for my deck. I actually had five rares in my colors, which was great, but my curve was a little bit higher than I'd like.
First round was against a WR deck that was built from the Zuko prerelease kit; they were an inexperienced Commander
November 16, 2025 at 7:08 AM
I somehow managed to go 2-1 with a really weak sealed pool, but I guess that's just a combination of player skill and some good variance when I needed it, haha. I did get the Aang dice bag as prizing for going 2-1, so that was cool. And I will be attending two more prereleases tomorrow and Sunday!

after he flipped Kuruk and played out the rest of his hand to wipe his board while being able to play mine back out from exile. I had that Avatar's Wrath in my hand from the very start of the game and managed to find the correct timing to play it and win with 5 cards left in my deck.
November 15, 2025 at 7:28 AM
Barely managed to win the third game after dragging the game out taking several even trades and drawing a bunch of cards off of Waterbending Scroll to make up for my lack of card quality. I managed to copy Messenger Hawk as a 4/4 with Ember Island Production, then used Avatar's Wrath
November 15, 2025 at 7:28 AM
Last round was against Hatsu on UBR Azula; I knew he had a ton of strong cards and I was in trouble. Lost the first game without being able to put up a fight, but won the second after rushing him with Katara and Sokka, Tenacious Tactician and using a Quench on his expensive removal.
November 15, 2025 at 7:28 AM
but he was pretty inexperienced and was just there for fun, so he gave me the win after we went to time when we were 1-1. Second round was against my Wing Zero friend on RG Earthbending; my deck was too weak to deal with multiple big creatures with reach, so I lost 1-2.
