Went to a Newtype Challenge tonight at the card shop with the hands-off owner. There ended up being 32 players exactly tonight. Hatsu also made it out, and we were both on blue/white Freedom Rebuild as usual. However, I did swap out Zowort for Rick Dias and added one of the new Aerial Rebuild.

Went to a Newtype Challenge tonight at the card shop with the hands-off owner. There ended up being 32 players exactly tonight. Hatsu also made it out, and we were both on blue/white Freedom Rebuild as usual. However, I did swap out Zowort for Rick Dias and added one of the new Aerial Rebuild.
Spent this evening working on my ATLA cube. I did end up deciding to increase the total to 480 cards, which I accomplished by doubling up on most of the commons. I also added some extra removal on top of that to help deal with the plentiful threats in this set.
I'm reconsidering whether or not I want to make my ATLA cube singleton. I feel like the ratios might be better if I have two of each common instead and bump it up from 360 to 480 cards. That'd also leave more room for the color-fixing lands.

Went to the usual Wednesday night Gundam locals. Unsurprisingly, there weren't many players tonight, only 8 in total. But the new league starts next week, so it might pick up then. In any case, both Hatsu and I were running blue/white Freedom Rebuild as usual.

Stupid flip cards... I hate mainboard dual-faced cards in physical card games, but these two are too important to the ATLA limited environment to exclude from my cube. I'm going to use helper cards to represent them so players don't have to keep unsleeving and flipping them, but it's still annoying.

Got these sealed products for my ATLA cube. The Beginner Box is predetermined, but I pulled pretty well from the Jumpstart boxes, so I only had to order a handful of singles online to supplement them. As soon as those singles arrive, I should be able to complete the cube!

I chose the Aang prerelease kit this time despite the uncommon Aang not being that impressive. My sealed pool was better than yesterday's at least.

Went to a MTG prerelease for the new Avatar: The Last Airbender set with Hatsu and our Wing Zero friend. There were only 6 players total since we went to a smaller card shop. I picked the Katara prerelease kit since I think the uncommon Katara is pretty good, but I didn't pull much good in my pool.

I spent today curating a list for a singleton MTG cube for the new ATLA set using both the main set and the Jumpstart cards. Now it'll just be a matter of collecting all of the cards for it, haha. I'll be attending a few prereleases this weekend, and then I'll probably buy singles after a bit.

I'm excited for the MTG ATLA set, but I do feel weird about putting most of the cards I've seen so far into my existing decks. I think it's because it's an IP I actually have a connection to, so it just feels out of place that an ATLA card will be in my Finneas deck or something.

Went to the usual Wednesday night Gundam locals. There were 22 players there tonight, which was more normal. I was on my unmodified blue/white Freedom Rebuild deck, and Hatsu was on his version now that he got the cards for himself, haha.

Went to two small Gundam locals today. The first was at the LGS I normally go to MTG prereleases for, and there was only 3 players, so we just did a round-robin tournament. I was on blue/white Freedom Rebuild as usual, and I won against both blue/white Unicorn Tempo and purple/white Zeta/AEUG.

I almost forgot to mention it, but I was able to pick up these boxes earlier in the day before the GD02 release event tonight. The funny thing is that I ended up pulling the exact same 8 LRs from both boxes, which wasn't that bad since I missed out on 3 of the cheaper ones,
The two boxes of GD02 that I preordered and was supposed to be able to pick up in a few hours got delayed until next week...
I guess it's a good thing I don't really need any of the new cards right away, but I was looking forward to it. At least I have the release events this weekend though.
