Agree. Turn that GDP growth down, and stop cutting down trees and we end up down around 1.9C, final energy by electricity peaks around 10% higher than today. Check scenario in link

Even in a modestly decarbonizing scenario (2.7C by 2100), final energy from electricity will start to fall by 2050, but increase by 70-80% from now until 2050. So we should not be too worried either. Unrealistic 15EJ/yr of H2 is baked in there too....

Been playing a bit with the SSP-database, which comes with no climate damage afaik. At middle of the road SSP2, USA i stabilizing a low growth, while low-income sub-sahara has a long term decreasing trend in growth.

What could be done, of course, is no index to what should be done; to make a new ice age in order to annoy others, or a new tropical, "interglacial" age in order to please everybody, is not necessarily a rational program. In fact, to evaluate the ultimate consequences of either a general cooling or a general heating would be a com plex matter. Changes would affect the level of the seas, and hence the habitability of the continental coastal shelves; the evaporation of the seas, and hence general precipitation and glaciation levels; and so on. What would be harmful and what beneficial—and to which re gions of the earth — is not immediately obvious. But there is little doubt that one could carry out analyses needed to predict results, intervene on any desired scale, and ultimately achieve rather fantastic effects.

En viss klimafornektende «light» (oljeaktivist) samfunnsøkonom mener de begynte å bruke mer kull. Det er feil. Som mye annet han lurer av seg.

With only limited chemical background, I still get that the flux of CO2 into the ocean should be proportional to the partial pressure of CO2 in the atm. When the partial CO2 pressure increases exponentially and the flux into the sea linearly (transitioning to a logistic type?), something is off.

Jeg tror få virkelig forstår alvorlighetene vi står i når vi nå snart passer 1.5C global oppvarming.

Sannsynligheten for å nå flere og sammenkoplede irreversible vendepunkter øker betydelig med videre oppvarming.

Fundamentally about capital protection.
the purpose was to enable more extraction and combustion of fossil fuels, if only for a few decades … or a century … or with no end date at all in sight. Even if formulated within the second configuration, the emphasis was on removal shielding capital from imminent destruction. Even if only conceived for an interval, its raison d’être was capital protection. And once that purpose was nailed down, there was no stopping the slide into continuation ad infinitum.
