One observation on the Louvre robbery, having been there a couple of time recently.

When I was a teenager there was a bus direct from my hometown in Germany to London - we had a British army base, and this direct bus connection was one of the benefits of that. One summer I went on that bus to go volunteer in an old people's home in Southend-on-Sea. I had just turned 18 and was... 🧵

More seriously - the sheer speed with which those who decry "activist lawyers" shift towards using the courts themselves when they realise courts can be used illiberally too.

Those who loudly decry courts and lawyers often only do so when they are losing the cases: it is not a principled objection.

A quick thread of charts showing how Trump’s economic agenda is going so far:

1) US consumers are reacting very very negatively.

These are the worst ratings for any US government’s economic policy since records began.

Update on my life: Last year, I joined my kids' school's PTA, because they needed a treasurer and I'm good enough with numbers. It was a straightforward, self-contained job: balancing the checkbook for an organization that only did a few fundraisers each year.

The curious thing about billionaires defying the rule of law and the orders of the court, is that their wealth depends entirely on enforceable legal rights: contract, property, and so on.

Those saying court orders have no value need to be careful what they wish for.

Ultimately it matters not if your constitution is written or unwritten or codified or uncodified…

…once those in power do not recognise political or legal rules higher than their own personal or partisan advantage it is constitutional ‘game over’.

Constitutions need constitutionalism, most of all.

What wont be discussed is the entire system that was operating behind them making it possible for them to response — the emergency management system—including multiple EM agencies.
