Absolutely! I think that’s why it’s been so big for me to have a therapist who can help judge which place something is coming from. That way I’m not like getting reassurance as a compulsion but I’m also not being pushed to do an OCD exposure that’s harmful to me as a neurodivergent person

I only got an OCD diagnosis last year because it started to manifest in “classic” ways for me. Now I know it’s been plaguing me since childhood and many therapists treated my OCD symptoms as general anxiety which is why they never improved. Honestly kudos to your therapist for even recognizing it!
