T-that Gravity’s Rainbow! What a book. I feel like I spent two months ingesting the 20th century, RAW! It’s distressing how much Thomas Pynchon saw where we were headed *gets hit in the face with a custard pie* www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
Lilah's review of Gravity’s Rainbow
5/5: This holds a special place in the culture as one of the great monolithic and impenetrable classics of 20th century American lit, and while its difficulty is perhaps a little overstated its comple...

When I'm telling all my friends to play hit new indie game Angeline Era, that's called my Evangelist Era hyuk hyuk *slips on a banana peel*

MobileSuitLilah's review of Angeline Era | Backloggd
In my adult life I’ve become very enamored with “going for a walk”, and while many games have tried to capture a sense of discovery and exploration I don’t think any has captured the spirit of “going ...

At my first women’s hockey game and it’s awesome. They just zoom around really fast and slam into each other and sometimes scrabble for the puck like two drunks fighting in a parking lot. Occasionally there’s an actual fight. 10/10 sport

We were robbed of a young David Byrne appearance on The Muppet Show. I want to see him hang out with Kermit. I want to see him act bemused and unemotive in the face of Miss Piggy's advances. I want to see him bond with Gonzo over being a little freak

There’s a bit in GR where a character angrily bursts into a conference room full of powerful men who pull the strings of the world and his life, jumps on the table and starts pissing on said businessmen while yelling “you can’t cancel me” and I’m still thinking about it

Thomas Pynchon would have been so good at making indie collage games a la thecatamites. More than any other novelist his style is so perfectly geared for That Kind Of Thing. They'd create a Pulitzer Prize for Gaming in response, then refuse to give it out every year instead of giving it to him

Beginning to realize Pynchon’s penchant for silly names is partly a mnemonic device because when there’s 400 characters and most of them are only mentioned 2-3 times several hundred pages apart there’s no way I’ll remember unless they’re named “Joaquin Stick”

Been playing Romance of the Three Kingdoms X and it’s awesome. A true exemplar of Guys-based gaming. The bleeding edge of Guys Technology. A Guy simulator cloaked in a menu-core strategy game

Nearly halfway through Gravity’s Rainbow and I just love this shit. You’ll get these searing passages about mankind’s compulsive quest for death in the 20th century and then suddenly there’s a Looney Tunes chase involving a hot air balloon, a biplane, dirty limericks and a crate of custard pies

Finished my 3rd solo play of Pax Pamir, which was also my first time not misplaying a key rule. That meant I got to fully experience the rich strategy and decision space as I overthrew every region the bot ruled and starved her economically. Incredible (and gorgeous) game, I can’t wait to play more

Sometimes I remember my first exposure to "banned books" was going to the library when they had a banned book table when I was 6 or 7. I thought if a book was banned it must be something really fucked up/scary but it was actually picture books about gay dads and I was really confused
