In the precolonial times if the state or Brahminical institutions recognized a caste group as upper caste (Brahmin or Kshatriya), it would come with entitlements (real or potential).

As we celebrated Savitribai Phule's birth anniversary yesterday, I couldn't help but remember Hari Narke who left us one and half years ago. Narke spent so much of his career gathering historical details about Jotirao and Savitribai Phule, including the accurate information about Savitribai's death.

Amit Shah needs to know that people evoking Babasaheb Ambedkar's name in political discourse cannot be equated with chanting a god's name. But the BJP only knows religious vocabulary it seems.
