A text mostly in Computer Modern reading: \multirowsetup Just before ⟨text⟩ is expanded, the \multirowsetup macro is expanded to set up any special environment. Initially, \multirowsetup contains just \raggedright. It may be redefined with \renewcommand.

Deeply embarrassing for the JTA to outsource its Jewish onomastics to a "German research company" and not be able to tell that the company got it wrong.
The skier has a surname not uncommon in the Jewish community. According to this German research company [link], Shifre is a Yiddish female name that means beautiful, and Shiffrin – with the Slavic -in ending – means “ancestor of Shifre.”

Reddit screenshot of r/writing post How to address characters not using their native tongue? Why wouldn't three Italian characters talk in Italian rather than English? Especially if the story doesn't always take place in English-speaking countries. I have a lot of non English characters for plot reasons and I'm curious on you guys' thoughts concerning this. For example, I'll sometimes write: "Hello blabla," X said in Italian. Or, I might write: X and Y's conversation translated to the following: "Hello blabla how are you?" "I'm blabla." It's kind of like breaking the fourth wall but not really? Idk if I'm making any sense. It also creates some sort of contradiction when characters say stuff that can only be said in English (quotes, rhymes, expressions...) Because of that, I usually just ignore the whole "why are they speaking English and not their first language?" question. Isn't it kind of a convention that characters of different backgrounds will all talk in English for the story's sake? If so, then maybe I shouldn't even mention it at all? Obviously I can't write dialogue in many languages and expect my readers to understand everything. So what? Comment: Jesus Christ I am BEGGING you to read like five books that are not set in the US and have characters speaking more than one language. You’ll are how to handle it. OP (downvoted): I read books set in fictional places, not the US, but sure. Comment: If you’ve not read a fantasy or sci fi book where people speak multiple languages maybe read some books not written only by US authors…

So the Irish word for Christmas is basically pronounced "knowledge". Do they know it's Christmas time at all? In Ireland they do.

r/baseball post Is there any good baseball documentaries that sort of go decade by decade. My grandpa is a big baseball fan and he always says the 50’s were the best decade. I only know baseball from the last decade or so, so I wanted to know if there is any good documentaries that kind of cover all the decades. Thanks.

Not sure what to do with the contradictory instructions of "each syllable is equally stressed" and "the second syllable is highly reduced", tbh.
And yet her pronunciation still rings false for anyone raised with South Asian family members. It’s not “comma-la.” It never was! Kamala, among Indians, is a pretty common name for girls. It means “lotus” and is often used with some interchangeability for Lakshmi, one of the chief goddesses in Hinduism. But it’s never pronounced “comma-la”; instead, it’s more subtle, closer to “com’la.” The emphasis isn’t on the first part, “comma”; instead, there isn’t any real emphasis at all. It’s smooth sailing, across her full name. It can be tough for tongues trained in English, but you almost have to skip gently over that second a—not entirely, but just enough so that it doesn’t sound as if you’re speaking in punctuation.
