After 20 years in the UC system and 16 at Berkeley Lab, I’m taking off to try out the private sector. Incredibly surreal day. I’ll miss this view and the community here a whole lot but something interesting came along and I decided I can’t pass it up.

I love castigating my youngest cat with “I rescued you from the street!” when I adopted him from an air-conditioned RV converted to cat-adoption purposes and his sister’s adoption paperwork was already underway by someone else.

There are a lot of computers you can argue had the largest impact on humanity. This one’s pretty far up there as far as impact to my life.

We got 3 kittens at the same time ~2 years ago, a group of feral siblings from an acquaintance's back yard. They're collectively the Yard Beans. The acquaintance sometimes sends pics from before they were captured and it's a treat every time. I present you a baby Hans Delbruck!
