One of the hosts of Radio Free Nintendo, a podcast about video games. Which is what I'm mostly here to talk about, but not exclusively.
I don't have expectations of you following back if you're not overly involved in video games!

Could probably study the way it was brought about as an example of what not to do to get people's buy-in: the secrecy despite the use of public funds, the power given to the CDPQ to decide everything without consultation, the fact that the initial plan just seemed to be "let's steal STM's clientele"

1. Why did they cast someone with the most Michael Cera energy possible?
2. Is it customary to regularly send 1600 USD's worth of gifts to your online opponents? I guess this is aspirational and something a rich influencer would do?

Ok but the price _has_ gone up. It released at 79.99 CAD in 2017.
Nintendo also put up a press release when they raised the price of a bunch of older Switch games.

For better and mostly worse, the IGN boards were an important part of my early 20s. They're a part of me. 🫠

I wonder if he's happy now: we live in the world he wanted.

You can live a happier life if you can accept that Metroid is not some ideal game form but just a regular franchise with some games that have some flaws you won't like.
We already got Super Metroid remixed a bunch of times (Zero Mission, Prime 1). That's already a lot.

I fully agree the franchise should die if no one at Nintendo really cares to make a new one, but I can't say that's the case here and that Beyond has nothing to offer.
I let go of being a Metroid purist some years after Hunters. The franchise can't just be a string of remixed Super Metroids.

I love Super Metroid and Prime as much as the next person, but maybe "cool alien vibes and isolation and perhaps sequence-breaking as a treat" aren't solid-enough pillars to support the franchise. I can understand the desire to expand the Metroid world.
I acknowledge the execution seems clumsy.

I figure you're the one to ask: have we ever seen Sylux's face?
Is it revealed that his eyes are lined vertically on his face?
Or like, does he seen through echolocation or something? Or just makes do without stereoscopic vision?

Hey so, this guy won't see your mean posts, but your followers with Paul Sorvino Face will.

We're in the exact same spot.

It's a combination of things for me. A little "this boss is nothing if you just approach him diagonally" here, a little "I upgraded my health enough that I brute-forced this challenge before I could even realize how it was meant to be solved" there.
The number of times I've thought: "…was that it?"

At the same time, I've been let down by so many of my entertainment choices lately, I'm kind of wondering if I'm asking too much from my escapism.
"Is this game/movie actually mediocre, or am I just too accutely aware that the world is turning to shit?"
