What makes Netflix’s efforts to become an immersive real-world destination so galling isn’t necessarily its shamelessness. There is a strong resemblance in Netflix’s efforts to the world of video games, where fans are encouraged to incorporate the entertainment they consume into their identity, to the point that they will sit through hourslong marketing presentations showing a barrage of trailers, broken up by the occasional celebrity appearance, corporate hype-person, or awkward bit. But what rankles is how little Netflix has to offer in return. The streamer’s brand identity is a lack of brand identity. It is your best friend and everyone’s best friend. What does Netflix like? Whatever you like.

There were a lot of great lil pixel heads/faces in my Game Boy collection growing up, and Bonk's Adventure's was def in the top tier.

Furthermore, Hennig seems to understand how integral it is that characters behave like real humans as opposed to videogame cliches. When Chloe and Nate approach a building ledge, she asks, "Do you reckon we're going to have to climb that thing?" Nate muses, "Yeahhh -- that's usually what happens." This exchange alerts you to your next objective without beating you over the head with camera sweeps or an unnecessary cinematic. It's lighthearted and amusing, but it also demonstrates that Nate is aware of how absurd his predicaments sometimes are. Is there really no supercut of Joe Pesci's scenes in Lethal Weapon 3 that I can play on a loop while playing playing Metroid Prime Remastered?
I want to get a feel for what Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is like.

Joe Pesci's bleached head can be scene between their shoulders trying to get some of the spotlight. As if to highlight how annoying and spotlight-seeking he's being, Gibson's and Glover's names look like part of the poster, but it looks like someone wrote in "and Joe Pesci" with a sharpie.

Collision on the first day of snow at my very accident-prone street corner. Pickup truck (now long gone after exchanging info) hit this guy who’s been stuck here for an hour.
Tow truck finally arrived as I was posting.
A small car covered in snow stuck on the left lane, a cop car parked behind it. The tow truck has finally arrived. It is still clearly snowing heavily.

Cure - Took me some time after the credits to process. What a bleak movie.
CGS2 - These movies are fun. Frenetic action, great practical effects. I need to watch more Jacky Cheung movies.
The Wailing - I feel I'm missing the point of this one. Heavy Rain-ass twist.

I had to look up what kusarigama are. I should do that more when encountering new things, this story is awesome.
From the 12th century, until the time of the Tokugawa shogunate, many fighters specialized in the use of the weapon. One of these fighters was Yamada Shinryukan, a man who defeated many swordsmen; he was trapped in a bamboo grove by Araki Mataemon and killed. Yamada did not have enough room in the bamboo grove to swing around the chain of his kusarigama.

I'm not super concerned about what this show does with the It backstory because I read it too long ago to even remember, but I am disappointed that this show doesn't seem to manage to be at least a _fun_ show playing with King concepts.

I really, really miss Castle Rock.
Stranger Things is itself heavily influenced by King’s work and by It especially, and watching a show inspired by It that is so painfully derivative of another show inspired by It quickly feels like consuming a confused and redundant pastiche, like listening to an A.I.-generated replica of the Beatles that solely performs Oasis covers.

Still getting the hang of the app, Weapons is what I just watched. It was fun.
I keep thinking there must have been something deeper to it, but I’m coming up empty. It’s a bit of a letdown after the universal praise.

Last time I got a retail game at launch was Pikmin 4 last year? And Mario Kart World in the bundle I guess, cheaper than buying the game and console separately but far from cheap.
