1. you can afford the short-term investment for the long-term (you start 5x slower to become 3x faster)
2. you disagree with current wheels

Btw as someone who did gamedev mostly for fun for many years and now for profit for many years I can assure you the best way for you to lose your passion is to turn this stuff into a fulltime job
Too much gamedev advice is dispensed assuming the end goal is a commercially viable game and maybe that's a problem? Making a financially load bearing game is so close to impossible that maybe setting that as the end point for all game development is creating wildly unrealistic expectations

Now that Astrobot won GOTY can we please end the "No 3D platformers" thing publishers have going on as a blanket rule at the moment? It's the "blanket rule" thing that bothers me. Publishing sounds like a AAA boardroom when they collectively have rules like that.

Why does Unity keep making reasons for people to avoid it? All they gotta do is make engine, support devs, and charge in a way where you don't suddenly go out of business over your engine choice.

On this episode of "Unity fucks up", apparently client revenue counts towards your own? Is that true?
So Unity recently decided that the tiny startup I dayjob for needed to upgrade to Industry at 5k/year/seat. We had no chance to contest it because they would have killed our only product. They even threatened people we worked with in the past with the same.

It's not just us.

Tomorrow on wheresyoured.at - recent data about OpenAI's revenue heavily suggests that the generative AI industry is much, much smaller than people think, with only 28% of their revenue ($1bn) coming from people integrating their models. I do not see how OpenAI survives the next two years.

Early on, Bluesky prioritized community safety over flashier features.

While X is getting rid of safety/moderation tools whether or not users need them, Bluesky keeps adding MORE safety/mod tools available to users who want to curate what they do and don't see.

O legal de fazer site estático é que dá pra deixar ele hospedado pelo GitHub Pages de graça e colocar seu próprio domínio se vc tiver.
Fiz um site usando gohugo.io. Você escolhe/faz um tema e cria todo o conteúdo usando arquivos .md
Ele monta todo o site estático com o tema e gera as páginas .html

BlueSky usa AT Protocol enquanto Mastodon e Threads usa ActivityPub. Ambos são open source com algumas diferenças importantes, porém não se comunicam por padrão.
Seria interessante se isso fosse possível. Aparentemente tem gente desenvolvendo isso.
