I am truly grateful to every university science program that includes science writing as a course for an advanced degree. I have spent years teaching scientists how to write.

Beautyland by Marie-Helene Bertino. I enjoyed it far more than I expected to.

Also pierog, a meatless veg pie. Cook together a pound of chopped mushrooms, 2 or 3 c shredded cabbage, with 3/4 cup of sour cream or yogurt, dill weed to taste, then mix in 3 or 4 chopped hard boiled eggs. Use as a filling for a 9" double crust pie. Cooked hamburger can be added, too.

Several people have mentioned cabbage rolls--ate a lot of those as a kid because money was tight. You can make them meatless but still get good protein by adding a can of beans to the rice mixture. Tofu works too.

Once turned my back on cooling cake layers for 10 minutes, in which time the cat devoured half of one layer. Fortunately had a box of mix in the pantry, whipped up two more layers and the spouse had his first 3-layer birthday cake plus a story.

Hope pupper is feeling okay!

Though the turkey was larger than he was, M would have cheerfully wrestled it under the bed to eat at his leisure given the slightest opportunity.
