#MeetAMouse This deer mouse is 2631-2 who was captured in a trap with 2629-30. Upon release they both ran up the same tree to console each other on a rough night. Funny thing is, 2629-30 was captured each night but with a different companion each time. Social behavior? @ndfieldecology.bsky.social
The cutest of deer mice, Peromyscus maniculatus. Identified by their big ears and conspicuous stripe on the tail. Hard to see, but there are two mice in this picture, one on the trunk of the tree on the right and the other on the end of the branch to the left The two mice sitting together on the same branch
