Agree, but didn’t the original strategy of focusing narrowly on a discrete policy issue reflect that? Feels like they painted themselves into a trap, and now folks are yelling at them about the discrete policy issue, but not failure to defend democracy.

OK, but the majority of the country is a lost cause in this parlance. What we think voters’ moral alignment should be and what they do are two different things. To beat Trumpism, there has to be a more compelling vision of the future. I would humbly submit it can’t revolve around tax credits.

Yeah, this is because they don’t stand for anything coherently. The undercurrent of all of it is that too many of them transparently don’t mean what they say, if they’re even saying anything clearly.

This is why it’s so important to pick our spots and assertively go on offense on favorable
ground. If we cut right to this, we’re cooked. But we need state leaders to step up before they have no other choice. Otherwise it’s all reactive, on his turf.

Your evaluation of the court is of course correct, but the idea that the current crop of Democrats can grasp this is borderline laughable. This is a big reason why they’re probably not the party that can stop this thing, and why we may be looking at decades of it.
