It’s the “season of love and giving”…but this year, doesn’t it seem more like a “season of fear and taking”? Like many of you, I’ve been saddened by the human impact of draconian government budget cuts and how angry many housed Americans are at unhoused Americans.

True Tourism Tale: After booking a Toronto hotel room, my call was redirected to a guy in Orlando, trying to sell me some sort of US hotel package. I said repeatedly that I had no plans to visit the US. Finally he said, "Is it the Orange Guy, Steve?" Yes, I replied. Yes it is.
