Previously a book editor. Still the author of NEW REALITIES: THE COMICS OF DASH SHAW: http://tinyurl.com/43sh4nu4
I'm at @comicsjournal.bsky.social again, covering the full comics adaptation of Paul Auster's New York Trilogy. I'm pretty measured in this, but the capsule summary doesn't lie. High pedigree, low rewards. www.tcj.com/an-empty-roo...

Exciting to see a bunch of new followers on here, I post about once a month and it's usually stuff like "Don Gordon might have been the most 70s actor of all 70s actors"

Stopped first by the perversity of a Le Carre booklist in alphabetical order, second by a sense of what the intolerable conversations must have been like on the way to publication. This only happens if a very stupid person gets their way

I just watched HARDCORE (1979). The more of Scharder’s films I see, the more FIRST REFORMED is notable not just as a late-career triumph but as a great movie by someone who has been wildly inconsistent this whole time.

Think I might use Bluesky mostly the way people use Letterboxd? Anyway I just watched DEEP COVER, terrifically made thriller, perfect balance of grounded and heightened. Bill Duke is a national treasure.

Courtesy of @dylanthms.bsky.social, New Realities in the wild at Forbidden Planet. They got the reading order exactly right: several volumes of New Mutants, then my book, then Newsboy Legion
