Stopped first by the perversity of a Le Carre booklist in alphabetical order, second by a sense of what the intolerable conversations must have been like on the way to publication. This only happens if a very stupid person gets their way

I just watched HARDCORE (1979). The more of Scharder’s films I see, the more FIRST REFORMED is notable not just as a late-career triumph but as a great movie by someone who has been wildly inconsistent this whole time.
