there's a housing crisis and we need more affordable housing and more housing now but not close to me and not that close together they should all be very large and very far apart and very far from me and there shouldn't be any more of it there should be less because it'll make my house worth more

👋Some news

I’m running for Mark Carney's Liberals in Calgary-Confederation.

I live here, work here, raise my kids here. I want to offer representation that understands the economy and the public interest and be an Alberta voice standing up for Canada at a challenging time. 🧵(1/X)

While I'm a big supporter of voting strategically in progressive ridings... the NDP are not the choice in Confed. The Liberal numbers will only improve once the candidate is announced tomorrow too.

Watched Sonya Sharp's launch video.

1) Not a single word about housing
2) No mention of an arena
3) What's her favourite business?

I guess it would be wrong to ask her about those things?

Hogarth was an explicit anti bike lane candidate, there at the Bloor west announcements to kill them, quite visible. And she lost. Bike lanes are a settled issue in Toronto. In the last mayoral election the anti bike lane candidates lost.

Councillor Sharp's year-end newsletter.

How many homes did she help build this year? According to her, not one.

Good to know.

Scanning the AECOM report, including a bunch of redacted pages.

Of note: The junk alignment intially pushed by Devin and the self-appointed committee of so-called experts (remember them?) was eliminated real quick.

Non-market housing across a range of needs and incomes should be built anywhere, everywhere, all at once.

Every community throughout Calgary.

“If Calgary council votes no to the Green Line, then it would be this Calgary council that voted no on the Green Line," [Dreeshen] said.

Candidly I find it a little long and wonder why it needs more than one part, but 🤷‍♂️

Province: Your estimates are too high. We’ll tell you where to build and how. It’ll cost less

City: We’ve been at this for years. Show us your work?

Province: (2.5 months later) Here. But don’t share. Say yes or we’re out. Cost overruns are yours

Agree or disagree with Cllr Penner, she makes excellent points here!

At this point does anyone really think the province wants ANY train serving downtown Calgary??

#yyccc #ableg
The Green Line is the worst political football we could be playing with. A game that’s gone on way too long.

The province wants to extend the game yet again to get a win for themselves, not for Calgarians.

Watched #yyccc questions before going in-camera to talk Green Line. It's clear #abgov has put Calgary in an untenable situation.

Estimates are very early
No engagement
No indemnity from property owners
Little time to meet Fed $$ deadlines.

Province's actions will kill it. Calgarians lose.

A couple weeks ago, fake renderings of a development proposal in Calgary were countered with renderings from the applicant.👇

Today, imaginations run wild about what an elevated LRT downtown could look like - because the province won't share any details of their "plan".
