The movie itself is very good, but I really appreciate it coming out in a really difficult time for animation as a medium and the artists working in it. My hope is that this movie will inspire more chances taken for more original stories!

I dunno if a month goes by where I don't think about the artistic mastery of this opening scene. Not only is it *NOT* rotoscoped (Hiroyuki Okiura and Tetsuya Nishio did this by fucking hand) but it also captures the essence of city life in these quick, earnest vignettes.
