In 2019, the federal government assembled 13 experts to create guidance on safer supply.

In 2023, the committee provided two final reports. These were promptly buried, and my attempt to get them yielded giant blocks of black ink.

This week presents a unique opportunity to get some answers about the silenced safer supply report, as two key figures appear on a panel together at the CCSA’s Issues of Substance Conference.

If you know anyone there, please inform them!
While it remains unclear who inside or outside of Health Canada is responsible for keeping the Safer Supply Expert Review from the public eye, there is an opportunity for transparency this week at the CCSA's Issues of Substance Conference in Halifax. For those attending, the plenary panel on Tuesday, November 18 will feature Canada's 'fentanyl czar,' former RCMP officer and intelligence advisor Kevin Brosseau, as well as Health Canada's Assistant Deputy Minister of the Controlled Substances and Cannabis Branch, Kendal Weber.

This part of the painting shows a man trying to grab an eel by the tail, which is proverbially the wrong way to do it. The eel is totally going to get away from him. The man is wearing blue. He has a deep scowl that says he knows he's doing it wrong, and he knows better, but the damned painter is making him do it this way. The eel is almost free; only the very tip of its tail remains in the man's hands. It knows that it's in the clear, and is already making plans for later. But eels are unambitious, and it's to-do list likely reads like this: 1: wriggle in the mud 2: eat something 3: swim backwards 4: wamble While this may sound pretty good to some of us, there is a reason why, "As forethoughtful as an eel" is not a paintable proverb. You shouldn’t need an advanced degree to be a parent.

I trust engineers to develop carseats and guidelines on how long my kids should sit in them. My research was limited to price and I don’t want to do more.

I have a PhD in Microbiology & Immunology. My kids have all their shots.
