I made it through the week by powering through some #tableau fundamentals, made Dirty Rice for dinner, and some (new-to-me-author) #jasperfforde books arrived. Grabbing every glimmer I can.
Shout out to my public library that had all the books I wanted to check out today!

And massivecups to public libraries in general. Serving the communities in a wide variety of ways and with so many more resources other than books.

New adds to my "curated" collection. (I'm going for less games overall, but more plays with what I have.)

These fill the slots for pick up & deliver, logic/deduction, and cozy/casual games

(Thx Noble Knight & Gamers Guild AZ)

Happy Friday Eve all!

Playing Board games - a hobby

"Curating a collection" - the other bg hobby.

Board game meetup day. Played Letter Tycoon (not pictured), Gizmos (fun engine builder, card drafting), Let's Go to Japan - tableau builder, beautiful art & pleasantly thinky. Then the Big Book of Madness. Coop, thought we were doomed until the last 2 turns. Huzzah! What's everyone else playing?

First attempt, homemade tortillas de harina (flour, lard, water). Glad to have a family of willing taste testers. I'd say 7 out of 10. Looking forward to improving speed, form. & size, for #burritos.

The amoeboid shape, did not in fact, impact taste - Ha! #tortillamoebas #cooking #tortillas

Ok, all. Final prod post. After 30 hrs & a panic varnish, my first mini painting in the books. Found a great tool to solve the tick marks issue, my iffy technique notwithstanding. Pics lincluded. Learned a lot, looking forward to paying with them at tomorrow's game day. #miniatures #boardgames

Free-handed squid emblems. No success in finding the right tool for defined tick marks so those look rough. Tried fine liner, needle, the exacto blade w/ inconsistent results. We'll say the mechs are battered for now & hope a satin varnish works some magic? #miniatures #boardgames #anachrony

Making progress on the other 2 factions. Lots of details to fix and add. Then varnish (all 4 factions) to get them in a game by Saturday.

Bonus pic of my test miniature. (Mr. T Owlbear). #boardgames #miniatures #anachrony

Well, I've gotten two factions done. Two to go. (Holding off on the Pioneers module.) I'm thinking a satin finish varnish to maintain the metallic paints? But experienced opinions welcome. As a 1st time mini painter, I'm learning a LOT. #boardgames #anachrony #miniatures

Eek ... I'm painting minis for the first time ever! Step 1 is primer. I'll share inspo pics from the game, progress through week. Then final results ... maybe. 🫣 #boardgames #miniatures #anachrony #mindclash

Started this earlier & just finished. I'm finding shorter novels enjoyable & refreshing.

You can dip in & out of stories with everyday characters. (And still be transported.)

Look up the neighborhoods, authors, meals, etc, mentioned for a more immersive experience.

An online post to share my offline morning: More data learning, new book, sourdough discard cheese muffin, and coffee.

My morning so far ... making sourdough starter & making steps toward new job roles.

When I'm overwhelmed by all the things I CAN'T change, doing something with things I CAN helps. It feels like solid ground.

Cheers all! To brighter days ahead.

It is not revolutionary to question what you're taught or told. It's necessary. (There's nothing inherently dangerous in ideas, books, education. Read before you think.)

We're not a Democracy, we're a Hypocrisy - but that changes if we want to look beyond the limits placed on us by those in power.

Horrendous. The difference will be made in what the regular citizens do (we're the majority); not the leaders. Even if it's making an impact with local elections, running yourself, conscious spending, not turning a blind eye, spreading the message. Don't just "Do nothing".
Trump has deployed active military to help round up migrants and put them into detention camps.

The military forced us out of our homes at gunpoint in 1942 because we were considered possibly disloyal Americans. They sent us to internment camps for four years.

History is repeating. Pay attention.

The story of Inigo Montoya's father before he met the six-fingered man? Must be an epic character, to have such a son.
please give pedro pascal a swashbuckler movie

my man was grown in a lab specifically to wear a hat with a feather on it and go "a-HA" and it is a shame on the world that we deny him that
