It needs to be said.
It's the guns.
It needs to be said over and over until we finally do something to stop the corruption that has led to this insanity.

Grateful for @corybooker.com’s leadership in always demanding action on gun violence.

It’s time for all of Congress to meet the moment and save lives.
Compared to the rest of the world, the United States stands alone with the threat we face from gun violence. It’s time to pass common sense safety measures–that over 80% of Americans agree on–to make our streets safer.

Today, the same performative politicians posting flag emojis and preaching “patriotism” stood hand-in-hand with the gun industry as 7 people were murdered in Highland Park on 7/4/22, including both parents of a 2-year-old. They keep choosing the gun lobby over your child’s life.

Never forget.

The #MN suspect had in his possession “at least 3” assault style rifles, a 9mm handgun, and potentially additional weapons according to the criminal complaint.

Unfettered access to guns, including the ability to stockpile weapons meant for war, is literally killing us.

Our country has a grim history of political violence including the attempted assassination of our founder, Jim Brady. Heightened rhetoric and unfettered access to guns cannot be ignored.

We must follow the example of Rep. Melissa Hortman and bring Americans together to free us from gun violence.

A lot has happened, so let me recap. They have:

- Legalized machine guns

- Rearmed convicted domestic abusers

Trump suffered a huge loss yesterday. The Supreme Court refused to hear challenges to Maryland’s assault weapons ban, as well as Rhode Island’s high-capacity magazine ban. Good.

If you want to use weapons of war, then go join the military.
