The Canadian gov't welcomes you to share your priorities for the federal budget. As I am fond of saying, decisions are made by those who show up. If they ask, answer! Take a moment to make your voice heard. This is a small example of what engaged citizenship looks like. www.canada.ca/en/departmen...

I always find it hard to get into bed at a sensible hour on Sunday. It is an admission that the weekend is over. Sigh.

Many businesses on the U.S.-Canada boundary (the largest international border in the world) are operating at a loss and are concerned about surviving the summer.

Some—like a family-run mail-forwarding company in business for 24 years—have already closed their doors.

I do not care if Canada post is ever profitable. It is a public service, everyone owns it. That’s valuable in and of itself.
We don’t ask the emergency room or public schools to turn a profit.
We ask them to be accessible for everyone to use.

Privatization makes things worse. Look at air traffic control in Canada or space exploration in the USA. Privatization doesn’t save money or deliver better services. It makes profits for shareholders.

Water, electricity, transportation services, and healthcare should be public not private goods.
