This was me after DBS surgery. A week later and the stitches are out. I get a proper shower tomorrow! 😁

Hello. I haven’t posted in ages, so I’ve probably dropped off your radar! But I thought I’d let you know that I’m having brain surgery today…more precisely Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS). If it works well, my Parkinson’s symptoms will be reduced, at least for a while

Hello. I haven’t posted in ages, so I’ve probably dropped off your radar! But I thought I’d let you know that I’m having brain surgery today…more precisely Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS). If it works well, my Parkinson’s symptoms will be reduced, at least for a while

But, yesterday when I parked in a disabled parking space, blue badge on display, a man shouted out “THERE’s FUCK ALL WRONG with you!”
“What an amazing guy”, I thought.

Parkinson’s is a bastard of a disease, and its big symptoms like tremoring, rigid painful muscles, insomnia etc obviously impact QOL
But sometimes, it can be the minor symptoms that piss me off.
I now seem to be unable to eat a meal without biting the inside of my mouth.

This has brought me to tears, not bc it’s upsetting, but bc it tells me I am not alone. That PD is the “bad guy”, not me. That the “quiet exhaustion” felt by my wife is natural and no cause for guilt for either of us.
