Big fan of music, literature, and swimming. Still grappling with whether to use the Oxford comma. Edmonton, Canada.
Thanks for the review. This novel sounds really interesting (and pretty dark…)!

Hammock all the way! Paint won’t dry and set properly in this heat. That’s the story I’m going with this weekend…

Recorded in my city! Those of us in Edmonton could never quite believe that Procol Harum chose our somewhat unknown northwestern Canadian city to record this album, but the fact that they did has always been a source of pride for Edmonton music fans of a certain age.

Don’t worry—by the time you reach the end, you’ll be completely confused.

TY for that memorable clip. For me, Upstairs, Downstairs was a profoundly impactful series. It began as a melodrama about class & evolved into a gut-wrenching study of the Lost Generation, as personified by James & Hazel. The quiet, dazzlingly talented Jean Marsh was the brain behind much of it.

I love that album, especially “Opening Out”. But “Turn of the Cards” is still my favourite album of theirs, I think.

💯 This is my favourite Beth Orton album and one of my Top 50 albums ever. A complete masterpiece of songwriting and performance, IMO.

A perfect album from beginning to end, but if forced to pick 2 favs, I would go with “Cherry Pie” and “Why Can’t We Live Together?”

This is another collaboration of Abrams with Aaron Dessner (from The National), so of course it's going to be good!♥️
