Democracy is low-information voters condemning you to hell and thanking your lucky stars you were able to take part in the process.
The most likely story for why Trump won is that a lot of low-information American voters remembered prices, including the cost of housing, being lower in 2019 and voted for him thinking he'd take the economy back to that.
