y'all might notice Deirdre looks quite a bit different. no, i didn't forget how to draw my characters, though that has happened. i'll 'splain shortly...
1 of 4 Aestre, having cried life giving tears into an acorn touches Deirdre's shadow on her forehead. a strange light emanates from her. Aestre: do not argure. live again, Deirdre. 2 of 4 Aestre lovingly puts a robe around the newly bodied Deirdre who is in slight shock. little q. and Zöe stare in fascination. little q.: mama? 3 of 4 Aestre touches Deirdre face, both crying. Deirdre: Why? Aestre: embrace your children, first Deirdre: yes- um, well... 4 of 4 Deirdre turns and hesitates looking at little q. and Zöe. Deirdre: did you- even want a hug? -after all i- Zöe: (geuninely angry) OF COURSE WE DO!! alt-text funz: it takes a lot to get Zöe angry. sometimes moms make us angry. though i think while Deirdre has screwed up profoundly, she is aware of it and seems willing to put the effort in to change. i speculate because i never decide what my characters are going to be. i let them do that because it's so much more interesting this way. Deirdre may yet make more mistakes.

However, there is a story of a great battle between the Tuatha and the Formorians who were thought to represent a sort of elemental evil force. As always i take a liberal approach to interpretting the myth.

a four panel comic page first panel- three fae, little q., Kilroy (looking a little sleepy), and a new fellow the Fisher Gnome. little q.: oh... hello Fisher Gnome: Howdy! i'm the Fisher Gnome, guardian of the Salmon of Knowledge second panel- close up of the Fisher Gnome Fisher Gnome: y'needn't worry 'bout her, youngin'- fer the moment she is removed from her sacred waters, she is born anew! third panel- all three in panel, but Kilroy is starting to look a little wobbly. Fisher Gnome: -so long as Fae desire to learn their secret names- she will continue to be reborn! it's as old as the hills thumselves! little q.: oh! fourth panel- little q.: (nervously rubbing their arm) guess i'll make a dietary exception for once- Fisher Gnome: the meat need only touch yer lips and the whole procedure begins Kilroy is clearly losing color fast and begins fainting... secret alt text message: the Fisher Gnome and little q.'s papa are based on the halves of my dad's personality. like q.'s papa, my dad went through bouts of serious anxiety and depression neither of which he sought help for. on the other hand, he could be very wise and in tune with nature on such a deep level. like both characters he was very caring to the point of self destructive and it's that last point i always try to keep in mind daily. i'd be no good to others if i don't help me, first. also, don't worry, i promised Kilroy will be okay. but i'm not spoiling how, not even here in the secret message. 😉

I think the historical context on this is really important to understand and promote because the reality is that there's no inherent aversion to trans people in our culture, it's one that's been cultivated by explicit right wing propaganda as another way to divide the working class against itself
