reminds me of cycling-so much historical cheating that a lot of people will never be able to fully believe, even if they only have scraps of evidence to go off of
i think gambling is bad from the "lots of people get addicted to it and lose all their money" standpoint but i'm not clear on the "moral rot" argument, i don't think betting on serious events is inherently wrong

the way nfl fans talk about "bad organizations" feels weirdly nihilistic, like either teams can develop talent or they can't and if they can't then they will never be good

if anything it seems more unfair to place undue emphasis on straight win-loss records given these things; there have been many seasons where auburn could've been a top 10 team by skill and gone 8-4 while taking zero upset losses

imo it is silly as hell to get wound up about strength of schedule in a sport with 1) no centralized scheduling mechanism and 2) no tools meant to create competitive parity amongst peers

i think this is basically true, but i'm also not sure how long anyone (including me) can hold "these people are fucking morons, and we should help them as much as we can" as an idea
A lot of people are being dismissive of the “drone sightings” but I think we need to seriously address the issues that lie behind this phenomenon: people are really astonishingly dumb.

has there been a team game that has solved this dilemma? league and OW both eventually took the “make the support roles fucking broken” path, which hurt everyone else’s enjoyment while also not actually working
Marvel Rivals is a very interesting game because like 95% of players don’t want to be anything but DPS characters and yet the second you get a team that’s a majority the other character types it’s a landslide victory

what is it about elon that causes people to form a cult around him? i guess a lot of it now is that he's the richest person on the planet, but that's because people were willing to throw their money at him for questionable reasons in the first place
