his dad was rockefeller's top guy, he knows how the game is played

people don't talk enough about how texas had Dickson the punter and Dicker the kicker in successive years and both have become very successful NFL guys

i'm significantly less bothered by dominant teams that steamroll everyone than i am by overdogs that still manage to get every coinflip-call it the "champions league real madrid" effect

all good wide recievers are jock goths
March 30, 2025 at 7:50 PM
i'm more sympathetic to this argument, but i still feel like you're giving too much credit to humans, and a lot of the post-mortems are going to be constructed explanations for functionally random decisions
March 28, 2025 at 7:10 PM
but the SSA codebase is almost certainly broken in a million different small ways, but it's still a good system because the quality of any individual piece of code matters less than that that code exists

in that vein i believe that AI-generated code can be a net good even if it's not optimal
March 28, 2025 at 6:53 PM
yes, moving fast and breaking things when it comes to of a tremendously successful and unambiguously good system in social security is bad, but most people aren't working on tremendously successful and unambiguously good systems
March 28, 2025 at 6:40 PM
but "making bad decisions quickly" is more important (and leads to better results) in a lot of scenarios than "making good decisions slowly"

AI isn't good for every situation but there's a lot of work out there where the "quality" is 10% as important as the fact that the work exists at all
March 28, 2025 at 6:07 PM
but normal non-ai-using people are horrible at these outputs too! it's not clear to me that AI makes worse decisions than your average programmer in these situations

it was the best-selling FE game in japan before awakening, seems like it gets overshadowed by 4 in the west though

what are my options if i think i would enjoy the type of work that law school entails but am 100% sure that i wouldn't be able to handle the workload?
March 17, 2025 at 4:11 PM
they should've just called roy eliwood in melee, americans wouldn't have been able to tell
March 17, 2025 at 5:53 AM

March 16, 2025 at 6:06 AM
it’s interesting because video games have also become more social in the process; not in-person, but basically everything popular right now has a “fuck around with friends” option (or is gambling)
March 14, 2025 at 3:58 PM
which bad MVP picks can be credited to this? if anything i would say the opposite is more true-the 97 jazz were worse than the bulls, the entire westbrook thing, iverson wasn’t on the best team in 2001
March 11, 2025 at 9:55 AM
surely nash (or even kidd) over ai makes that gen x team better

ice freezer three hundred and four
February 10, 2025 at 8:33 PM
i think the 2014 spurs should count for this but the argument gets muddled when you have four hall-of-famers, even if none of them were in their primes and it was an extremely depth-focused team
February 7, 2025 at 9:47 AM
80% is a pretty clear exaggeration given that the astros and braves were both outside the top 10 in payrolls when they won

if you're an a's or pirates fan you're entitled to complain, but middle-class teams have repeatedly shown the ability to compete with the dodgers
