I never had a problem keeping one set of weapons upgraded, I ran into issues of keeping two upgraded while trying to experiment with builds. It's definitely not a game you can golden path easily, you need side quests to get mats/gold.

Weird take to have while Marvel Rivals is legit blowing up.
also fwiw if students i've had are any indication of where The Kids are at, most of them seem to kinda hate f2p/live service games but are on there mostly because they're more accessible and their friends are there.
re: the "kids don't care about games that aren't f2p/live service", or "kids don't care about engaging with music", etc talking points: what kids want generally doesn't change. kids just don't have a lot of power, so they're always forced to adapt what they want to whatever they have access to.
