I was born an underdog. 21 surgeries by the age of 12 for spina bifida. A kid wearing goodwill hand-me-downs. I knew nothing would come easy, but I never doubted my right to the American dream.

Now, I'm running for the U.S. Senate to make sure all Iowans have a shot at theirs.

Ikke bare det, det er å snyte dem for muligheten til å øve opp ferdighetene alle vet vi trenger i fremtidens arbeidsliv: omstillingsevne, intellektuell fleksibilitet, osv. Det vi øver på nå i utdanningssystemet er stort sett evnen til å blidgjøre autoriteter som allerede har svarene.

Byrådets kutt vil i følge Deichmans egen analyse bety slutt på kvelds- og søndagsåpne bibliotek over hele byen. Fredager og lørdager vil bibliotekene stenge klokka 16.

Det positive med dette er at kuttene kan gi lavere eiendomsskatt til de som eier de dyreste boligene.
