#A2Council, abundant housing & transportation
#A2Council I get that a height limit in the low-rise 'hoods is inevitable, but proposed unit density limits are so counterproductive. Zoning needs to be flexible, probably through the "neighborhood context" concept, to allow small apartments citywide. Make neighborhoods affordable, win elections.

TIL Ann Arbor's Mayor from 1905 to 1907 was Will Ferrell's Old Prospector after he found a barber.

Their endurance is really remarkable. I think we still have 6 more months to get Council approval? I hope they can all get a vacation in there somewhere.

Well #A2Council, I think we're headed for a similarly depressing map soon. The "Transition" Corridor plan we are contemplating is a big improvement from current state, but lots of housing within a few minutes' walk of a bus stop will have much lower density zoning.

Seriously, these neighbors are going to do everything they can to vote out the current Council Members, no matter what concessions they win along the way.

There is strong support for carbon-neutral housing (71%) and subsidized affordable housing (79%). But the next question is very nuanced. It asks about support for these when making trade-offs with supply/cost. 72% say we should prioritize cost among these priorities.

Most residents feel there is "too little" of many housing types. <50% think there is too little of SFHs and townhouses, but >50% feel there is too little of MFH. Perceptions of new MFH vary by age: younger people say too little MFH. 55+ say too much MFH. (Difference is statistically significant)

Only 31% of respondents have positive feelings about the variety of housing options in the city. Only 11% are positive about the availability of quality housing, which is statistically lower than the national benchmark. These are standard Polco q's. City staf also added some custom questions:

Unbelievable how long these storefronts have been empty. Hoping the new building with about 1000 tenants will help boost some sort of new business.
