Just been asked to verify my age before I can send direct messages on @bsky.app. I can either do this by registering my credit card or scanning my face! Data to be held by some US company I've never heard of.

NO thanks!

I'm in the clear. I hadn't even heard of him until two days ago. I bet half the Brits who are now mourning like they were his best mate hadn't heard of him either.
Historically, lists of political enemies have a very illiberal record. This new website, which lists people who celebrated Kirk's murder, doesn't seem to be an exception.

VJ Day is 15th August in the UK, but 2nd September in the USA. War doesn’t end when the vanquished accept defeat, but when the victors accept victory.

I really hope you’ll take a moment and listen to Chris Hedges, author of America: The Farewell Tour.

He gives an excellent breakdown of the difference between the Corporatists (Democrats) and the Oligarchs (Republicans).

Our choice now that the oligarchs have won?

Tyranny 👑 or revolution ✊🏼.

A weapons firm owned by the Israeli government is still operating in the UK. When we started investigating, the firm deleted its website. And when we visited its office, the building was empty👇

Hard to disagree with any of this. The bigger question is why anyone would want to rely on a 'basic' income when it's Trump's and Musk's cronies who decide whether you get enough to eat every day.
A few things: 1) clearly the idea of getting checks is extremely popular, and both Trump and Elon know that which is why Trump insisted his name be on the stimulus checks and why Elon has lied for years about supporting UBI. 2) Do not for a moment expect these checks. 3) DOGE is making us worse off.
Musk was just asked in Green Bay when "DOGE checks" might be sent out. His answer was basically that everyone will be better off financially if the "waste" is eliminated. It's clear by his response these long rumored checks aren't coming lol

Coming shortly to the UK. Because when the drones and hypersonic missiles are heading across the North Sea, what we'll need most are thousands of young men who have done a fortnight's square-bashing.
Poland will introduce "military training for every adult male" to ensure they are ready "to become full-fledged soldiers in conflict situations", says Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

"It must become a habit, a tradition, that every healthy man in Poland should want to train to defend the homeland."

But Israeli soldiers burning a historic 12th century mosque? Nah.
