I couldn't do this with 300 characters today. But yes, Loke was very unhappy and dumped boiling water on him the next day. :) she doesn't appreciate being stripped down without consent (Although she *did* rationally agree he did the right thing)

“You’ve got to be kidding…” Magnar mumbled under his breath and announced that he was going to open the door. He cracked the door and peeked in, seeing her on the floor, unconscious with water flowing from the wall over her body. “Blu, grab me a blanket!” Magnar ran in, flipped the lever on the wall for water and as Blu came in with a blanket, wrapped Loke in it and carried her out. “She’s going to hate me for this later, but there’s no choice.” Magnar was mostly talking to himself as he got her out of her clothes from the ritual and into something he could get on her easily, but all he had at hand was one of his shirts. At least it was big enough to keep her well covered. He dried her off and got her dressed and put her to bed.

apparently it's another aurora day in places it really shouldn't be.... it's faint and camera only (and neighbor 2 houses down now has some too bright lights, ugh)
faint green aurora just over trees in a residential neighborhood with electric wires across the middle and some streetlights that take away from how nice the aurora should look

Then, let me go through things one more time. I dig a hole, lay in it, and wait for you to push the dirt on. That’s it?” “Yes. Your end sounds simple, but it will be mentally taxing, so be ready for that. This ritual is outlined to be very time consuming, so that is why I’m encouraging you to make sure you’re ready when you begin. Also, you’ll need to wear this.” She handed him a small handful of tan cloth that was similar to what Dias wore as an offering to Lusaa. Magnar unfolded it and grimaced. “I have to wear this?” “Yes. Is it a problem?” Loke tilted her head not sure why he cared what he wore to be buried. Magnar scratched the back of his head. “Yes, well, no, but it isn’t concealing very much.” “Dias didn’t have a problem and you’re making a big deal out of nothing. Magnar liked to think Loke was trying to encourage him though he was certain she was mostly placating him. He wasn’t even sure why she cared what his thoughts were since now he is supposed to be a bodyguard, but he did appreciate her sharing what geographical information she did have. “So, what’s your plan?” “As much as I hate getting up early, most caravans will start before dawn. We should see if we can’t attach ourselves to one. Next time we burn down a significant portion of the landscape, we’ll use horses to make our getaway.” “I agree with the horses, but can we not burn anything else down?” Magnar crossed his arms and stared at her across the table. Loke frowned. “I was joking.” Pushing her dry attempt at humor aside, Magnar leaned back in the chair, still crossing his arms. “So we try and get aboard a caravan is plan A. I’m on board. What about plan B?”

Votan interrupted Loke and Magnar’s bickering. “Before that, I think we should be careful. I don’t think we’re alone here. I always heard rumors in Nakbe about this being a place for bandits to use as a base.” “What, they didn’t have any thieves' guild or something you could have joined?” Colel was extra sharp to Votan. They had been civil lately, which meant that Votan likely said something inappropriate to her recently. “I told you, I’m not doing that anymore! Just that one time in the dungeon so we could all get out of there.” Votan was visibly upset, but his expression changed to suspicion quickly as he pushed Colel forward, causing her to fall. “What did you go and do that for?” Colel yelled at him, but as she turned to look at him, she quickly realized that he pushed her out of the way to protect her. Votan pulled the throwing knife out of his shoulder and tossed it aside. “I think we should go somewhere else.”

Wiil is mostly isolated from other countries, though they do trade because they have to. but they have really high costs and their government is... iffy. That gets covered more in book 4... or 5 (i'm rearranging).

There were occasional cheers and a few people loudly wailing that would cut through the murmur of the gossiping populace. They heard about it in Nampa – the priest and priestess of the village were arrested and taken to Teo for a public execution. They hadn’t missed it but Loke was worried she wasn’t going to be able to do anything about it.

During the wait, Loke seemed to be shopping with a purpose, but she wouldn’t disclose what she was looking for. She wasn’t actually sure of it herself. Afew moments after everyone was once again together, they heard a familiar voice cut through the crowd, straight toward them. Loke’s blood ran cold and Magnar hung his head in exasperation. “Loooooookeeee!” Ezra came charging toward them, arms spread wide to try and embrace Loke, who dodged him easily. “I came as soon as I heard you’d be here!” “Did you write to this guy?” Magnar was confused. He thought they’d settled the situation between him and Loke but he didn’t know how Ezra would have known to come here otherwise. “No. I have no idea how he’d know I’d be here.” She kept dodging Ezra’s attempt for a hug and eventually stepped behind Magnar. “Regardless, I think this is an acceptable option.” Dias was also trying to figure out how he knew to come here and how long he had been here. “Ezra, why are you here?” Loke asked from behind Magnar. “I was back in the coastal village getting ready to head home when a woman came up to me and said to come here since you’ll need my help at some point. But, uh, who’s this guy?” Ezra pointed to Votan, already suspicious of yet someone else near his beloved. Votan was insulted by Ezra’s tone and was immediately defensive. “Me?” “Yeah, because I would like to know who’s coming on my boat. Plus, I would like to know what sort of riff raff is getting close to my priestess.” Ezra folded his arms and waited for an answer.

Once the terms were set, Magnar and Palen stood opposite each other, naked from the waist up, in the center of Magnar’s front lawn. Apair of guards remained at alert while Loke and everyone else stood behind them. As punches missed and landed from both sides, the guards began to holler in support of the Aja. Magnar’s support watched carefully, knowing he was holding back to let Palen keep some integrity. Loke thought it was too generous of a gesture. “When I suggested that he was the one that could knock some sense into Palen, I didn’t mean it literally.” Cam sighed, but from what she was able to ascertain, it was likely inevitable

Magnar noticed she was smiling a lot more and hoped it was a sign that the worst was behind them. "Oh, before I forget. Before sundown I need to begin preparations for tomorrow's ritual. Dias should hopefully have the beast ready by midafternoon, so if you could help him place it on the platform outside, that would be really helpful. Once I begin, I can't talk to you, or really even acknowledge you. I also need to purify my body and mind, so I know it's a bother, but could you stay outside the room?" "Not a problem. But what is that over there?" Magnar pointed to a pile on the platform that looked like a stack of off white rocks. Loke glanced up to see what Magnar was pointing at. "That's an offering to the god of deception. Because Bixun's methods go against the Biyeho teachings of kindness, I need some assistance from that god. I still plan on performing the ritual for strength, but it won't for the reason he expects it. He's already offered so much blood to the god of strength that I need the god of deception to make it seem like a bigger offering than it really is to be heard. I need to fool both a god and a fool."

There was a noise on the roof of the main house that broke Blu out of his contemplation. He quickly shoved the letter back where he found it and carefully went to wake up Magnar. As soon as Blu shook Magnar, he heard the sound of something dragging on the roof and was completely awake. He motioned for Blu to go wake Dias and to head around the back. He made sure everyone was still asleep and made his way to the front door. He heard a thud on his porch and as he was about to open the door, someone pounded on it loud enough to wake everyone on the entire farm. Aloud voice called out loud enough to ensure everyone was awake. “Hello! I’m sorry for calling on you all so late, but I’m looking for a young lady with light green hair and a strapping young man with dark blue hair! If anyone knows where they are, could you be so kind to lead me to them!” Despite the deep bass of the person’s voice, the tone was overtly effeminate. Dias and Blu came running from the back of the house to the front and Loke, half asleep walked up to join them. “Hello? Is anyone in here? I heard this place with full of life! Or was it full of death? Hello?” The pounding on the door continued. “Magnar, make them go away. We have to leave tomorrow and I’m sure everyone wants to sleep.” Loke started back to the center of the house. “They’re looking for us, stupid.” Magnar yelled as best as he could in a whisper.

“I can help.” Blu was a little hesitant to speak up and didn’t like it when they started to argue. He pulled out a firearm that looked far more advanced or foreign than either Loke or Magnar had ever seen, which wasn’t difficult as Magnar hadn’t ever seen one and Loke had only seen the ones used to hunt in the mountains west of Holom City. Those were long, quite dull and cold looking while the one Blu held in his hands was a lot more compact in bright silver with what Loke could only assume was glass inlaid along the barrel and an opening in the back to load it. “This was one of the things left behind during the chaos in the orphanage. I think one of the priests used this. It releases some sort of energy from a pellet is put inside. I don’t have an endless supply but enough to help out if I use them sparingly.”
