Not only are CECOT and the Everglades camp both concentration camps, they're also advancing the Trump administration's plan to create a vast network of such camps at home and (through bullying and bribing other countries into accepting deportees) worldwide.
In the way we waited for @mnemonic.bsky.social to permit us to declare Godwin's law satisfied, I'd love an official statement from @andreapitzer.bsky.social that says we can call Everglades and CECOT concentration camps (I know she has done so with both, but maybe a list?).

Maurene Comey (who I supervised) was the lead prosecutor on the only case to get justice for the Epstein victims. The case was botched by the Dist. FL US attorney Alex Acosta long ago. Maurene had the courage to take on a hard case that many wouldn’t have & she succeeded. That’s the story. Period.

Yesterday, Maurene Comey, who prosecuted the Epstein case, was summarily fired from SDNY. Her letter to colleagues pulls no punches. "Fear is the tool of a tyrant, wielded to suppress independent thought."

Turns out ICE abducting people in broad daylight and deporting them to black sites isn't great for the tourism biz
Maine had 90,000 fewer international visitors this June than a year ago
Prior to January, when visits hit a natural seasonal low, Maine was on track to see more visitors than in any of the three previous years.

Gift link to the WSJ article on Trump’s birthday card to Epstein.

I leave it to you to decide if it matters or not. Hardly a smoking gun of any kind. Just proves, yet again, that Trump is a pig and he considered Epstein to be a friend.

While remembered for her amazing voice, style and beauty, I will always remember Connie Francis for her bravery as a prominent voice in crime victims' advocacy groups, especially crimes against women. What a legacy!

If you’re avoiding so-called “AI” and frustrated with how Google shoves it in your face, here’s a tip: use Wikipedia instead of Google for information on most people, places and things(even news). Wikipedia cites everyone, is made by humans, and is not-for-profit. Replace “Google it” w “Wiki it.”

I am grieving the barbarism that is going to unfurl from all this. People are going to die. Livelihoods gone. All to feed a corrupt kleptocracy.

I see every day up close how different it is from the first time around. There are no guardrails. A disaster. I’m sorry we have to live through this.

I just left the Everglades Immigrant Interment Camp. No, I’m not using their ridiculous name. It was a very tough to witness humans in those cages. Every Floridian should be ashamed that our taxpayer money is being used for this.
