Major League Baseball should celebrate the anniversary of Larry Doby’s 1947 debut, which integrated the American League. His path was hardly an easy one.
And here we are on Larry Doby Day. Seventy-eight years ago today, Doby joined the Cleveland Indians in Chicago. As I wrote in "Our Team," it was a momentous day in the American League but a devastating one for Doby.
