When you sign up to be a Block Captain for Elon Musk, this is the email you get from America PAC. It says you "will earn $20 for every Wisconsin voter you recruit - and they'll get $20 too." This is not for signing a petition. It's given out to people who "recruit" voters and the voters themselves.

1/ I wonder if there's a complement to Mettler's _Submerged State_ thesis: the successful state thesis. In brief: American government has *in many ways* been so successful for so long that Americans have forgotten why they need it, making anti-government rhetoric more appealing.

Just to be clear, it's the U.S. that has cut its troop numbers in Greenland. There used to be thousands of troops at Thule (now Pituffik Space Base). Now there are maybe 200.
JD Vance in Greenland: "Denmark has not kept pace in devoting the resources necessary to keep this base, to keep our troops, and in my view to keep the people of Greenland safe from a lot of aggressive incursions from Russia, from China, and from other nations."

"What makes you and your team so effective...?" is a question intro no serious reporter has EVER asked an Elected Official before. This is what happens when those who the press is supposed to hold accountable limit access to briefings, literally picking who can be in the room. #Undemocratic #MomSky
Trump being able to pick the White House pool reporters is having the desired effect. Get a load of this question.

A thread on Kristi Noem's "multimillion-dollar ad campaign" aimed at... telling undocumented immigrants to deport themselves?

If it wasn't clear from the launch video (which could have been a Trump campaign TV spot) and the sheer absurdity of the concept, this is a giant grift. I dug deeper today:

The thread is long so I just want to highlight this tl;dr:
Here's the story that's coming together: a federal government agency is funneling tens of millions of dollars into microtargeted fearmongering propaganda, lining the pockets of Republican political operatives who helped Trump get elected & Trump-friendly media companies (Fox News, X) in the process.
