Every right entails a duty. Every Māori person has duties (ngā here, obligations) to Papatūanuku, Whakapapa, and Hapori (just for starters). Te Tiriti protects Māori capability to exercise those duties. Te Tiriti establishes rights for Tangata Tiriti, the price includes duties to Tangata Whenua.
