Excellent question. I wish I had any answers….
I’m not making either of those arguments. I’m saying this: hundreds of millions of people use these tools, right now. Today. They do not know that risks go up to, and include, mortal danger to their children. Yelling at them “AI bad!” has, definitively, failed. What is the next plan? Do it again?

This is definitely the sense I am getting from my students. There’s a craving for analog experiences, for presence, for humanity, for a recognition that they have unique value to our future that is irreplaceable by automation. There’s a hunger for time off-screen and uninterrupted by tech.
