I think this has started with the structure imposed by EU grants a couple of decades ago, and not so gradually trickled down as an inevitability. Having deliverables in a scientific project is frankly ridiculous and I don't see much pushback. It's not going to end well

Public-good science is living on borrowed time, anyway. The US has conveniently set the path to its final dismissal for all of the other governments to follow.

Confirm. Also the coordinated, massive push towards the proprietary platform is beyond suspicious. Try also to download an outlook attachment to mobile. It informs you that "it's going to be encrypted", i.e. useless.
