Perhaps a hot take but as a society we have got to get better about how we support people who are mothering. “It was your choice to have kids.” Bad take. If we all stop having kids, there’s no future, no purpose in creating lasting, enduring change.

Things I have discovered since my husband went back overseas:
- the house is too quiet
- see above point re: no more echolalia of vocal stims daily
- clean house feels sterile
- only adult in the home feels real lonely
It feels like painting life with strokes of grey instead of pops of color.

More people need to talk about how bonding with your newborn can be a slowburn and not immediate. I’m just now at almost 5 weeks looking at him like I’m absolutely obsessed and a lot of that is a) emerging parenting confidence and b) simply getting to know him better.
